The MICOLE project aims at developing a system that supports collaboration, data exploration and communication of visually impaired and sighted children. MICOLE will employ multimodal interaction techniques (using both speech and non-speech sounds) and haptic interfaces (using force-feedback, tactile displays and gestures) in sighted users. These rich methods of interaction will allow for users to access information that is currently inaccessible and work with other users across the Internet using interfaces that make use of most of their sensory modalities.
