Awards

The digital mobility project “Traffic estimation in roads” was awarded the gold medal in the category "Technologies that improve vehicle traffic, transport and pedestrian movement". The award ceremony took place in Athens (10 March 2022) and it was organized by Boussias Communications under the auspices of Central Union of Municipalities of Greece (KEDE) and the Attica Region.

The paper entitled “GRETA: Pervasive and AR Interfaces for Controlling Intelligent Greenhouses”, by Bekiaris, I., Leonidis, A., Korozi, M., Stratakis, C., Zidianakis, E., Doxastaki, M., & Stephanidis, C. , received the Best Paper Award at the 17th International Conference on Intelligent Environments (IE2021) (Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 21-24 June 2021).

European Public Sector Awards 2017
The digital transformation project “Electronic Services for the Transportations and Communications Division of the Region of Crete” was selected by the European Institute of Public Administration (EIPA), amongst 150 candidates, as one of 34 best practices across the EU. Following its nomination for the final jury decision of the European Public Sector Awards (EPSA 2017), it was ranked second amongst the top 4 European innovation projects. The award ceremony took place in Maastricht (22 Nov 2017).

The paper entitled “AmITest: A Testing Framework for Ambient Intelligence Learning Applications”, by Louloudakis, N., Leonidis, A., & Stephanidis, C., received the Best Paper Award at the 8th International Conference on Mobile, Hybrid, and On-line Learning (eLmL 2016, Venice, Italy, 24-28 April 2016).

Interactive Documents and Media Gallery were the main attractions for the booth of EU Project Medeat at the ITB Berlin Travel Trade Show 2014, which won the second place in the NGOs & Non-Profit Institutions category of the organized by the Cologne Business School.

The paper entitled “AmI-RIA: Real-Time Teacher Assistance Tool for an Ambient Intelligence Classroom”, by Mathioudakis, G., Leonidis, A., Korozi, M., Margetis, G., Ntoa, S., Antona, M., & Stephanidis, C., received the Best Paper Award at the 5th International Conference on Mobile, Hybrid, and On-line Learning (eLmL 2013, Nice, France, 24 February - 1 March 2013).

"Game Over!", an educational game designed and implemented by Dimitris Grammenos, won the People’s Choice award at the Arcademy Games Awards Montreal, Quebec, sponsored by Festival Arcadia. In this event the submitted games were showcased in front of 22,000 visitors

"UA-Chess", a universally accessible game designed and implemented by Dimitris Grammenos, was nominated for the final jury decision of the European Design for All Awards set by the European Commission, in the category "AT/Culture, Leisure and Sport".
