] Call for expression of interest for two (2) part-time, Research Assistant positions
Description. Modern astrophysical research requires analysis of massive datasets due to the unprecedented volume of data generated by advanced telescopes and observational instruments, which capture detailed information on celestial objects and events. Analyzing these large datasets enables scientists to uncover the underlying patterns and structures in the universe, leading to breakthrough discoveries and a deeper understanding of fundamental astrophysical processes. The HORIZON project “TITAN – Frugal Artificial Intelligence and Application in Astrophysics”, funded under the HORIZON-WIDERA-2022-TALENTS-01 program aims to develop novel computational paradigms for astrophysical data analysis through the use of deep learning methods in high performance computing environments. Within this project, we are seeking two (2) highly motivated research assistants to join our team and contribute to the development of cutting-edge AI-driven solutions for scientific data analysis. The successful candidates will contribute to research activities focusing on: • Deep learning models for multi-source data fusion and inverse problems • Use of large language models in signal analysis, with emphasis on multimodal data The responsibilities for these positions include: • Collaborate with domain experts, data scientists, and engineers to identify research challenges • Design, develop, and evaluate deep learning architectures and models • Develop methods for data fusion, representation learning, and inverse problem solving • Explore and implement large language model (LLM)-based approaches for data analysis • Test, validate, and document developed methods and software

] Call for expression of interest for one (1) position of Researcher with an M.Sc. degree in Computer Science or related Engineering field
Topic: Development of Frugal and Explainable Perception Frameworks for Resilient Autonomous Navigation and Performance Evaluation in Non-Permissive Environments. Description We seek one experienced member for our team, a Scientist or Engineer with a strong background in deep learning, explainable AI, and resilient perception systems. The successful candidate will conduct research and development on intelligent perception and evaluation frameworks for autonomous platforms within the framework of the ORDEAL project. The ORDEAL project (Operational Resilience of Drones in Experiments and Autonomous fLight), funded by the European Defence Fund (EDF), establishes a European technological challenge framework for evaluating robust autonomous drone navigation. The project organizes large-scale test campaigns across Europe, simulating non-permissive conditions such as GNSS jamming/spoofing, RF interference, and counter-UAS systems. ORDEAL drives innovation in positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) for single drones and swarms operating in contested environments. The successful candidate will be involved in the development of frugal and explainable perception frameworks to enhance the resilience of autonomous navigation. Responsibilities include the design of trustworthy AI models (XAI) for scene understanding, the implementation of resource-efficient (frugal) learning algorithms for embedded deployment, and the creation of performance evaluation methodologies for autonomous systems in non-permissive environments. Furthermore, the candidate will contribute to the technical analysis of challenge results, the preparation of scientific reports, and the validation of explainability metrics for autonomous drone decisions in accordance with the Grant Agreement.
