Development of highly innovative technologies for European industries, integrating these new solutions across a wide variety of industry domains and developing new training activities that will boost human performance in industry across Europe.
The purpose of OPTIMAI is the creation of an industry ecosystem that will optimize production through the utilization of enabling technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Augmented Reality (AR) and Digital Twinning (DT). A sensor’s network will enable the collection of data and a distributed ledger mechanism will ensure data validity and monitor communication transactions. AI methodologies will be developed for data analysis with the aim of detecting any possible defects and identifying causes upstream in the manufacturing process.
OPTIMAI aims to decrease the time needed between quality control and actuation. AI-enabled quality inspection will assist it in this attempt. The virtualization of the production process will be implemented by combining digital twinning technology with AI, leading to optimization of production planning. In addition, OPTIMAI will develop a context-aware Augmented Reality (AR) environment which will enable the provision of quality control results and reconfiguration suggestions facilitating the operator’s decision making. The aforementioned goals will be achieved by constantly making sure that the project adheres to relevant regulations and ethical principles and that human rights of pilot participants are not abused. For the evaluation of OPTIMAI solutions and the maximization of its impact, use cases will be tested in 3 pilot sites across Europe (Spain, UK and Greece) covering heterogeneous industrial domains (hardware assembly, micro-electronics assembly and elevators manufacturing).
