Ioannis Petrakis is a Senior Software Engineer at the Center for eHealth Applications & Services of the Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH). He holds a Bachelor’s degree from the Department of Informatics at the University of Ioannina and a Master’s degree in Computer Systems from the same department. He specializes in systems interoperability, as well as in HL7 standards and IHE profiles. He has participated in the implementation of a Greek Integrated Health Information System and several European projects, such as iCARDEA (An Intelligent Platform for Personalized Remote Monitoring of Cardiac Patients with Electronic Implant Devices), e-SENS (Electronic Simple European Networked Services), STARS-PCP ( Development and testing of pilot systems in the context of Patient Empowerment by Stress Avoidance and Recovery Services), eCARE-PCP (Digital solutions for frailty prevention in older adults). He was also involved in the "Study for the Management of the National Catalog of Pharmaceutical Products" in Greece, the SRSS project, which defined the interoperability specifications of the Greek National eHealth Interoperability Framework (NeHIF), and the X-eHealth project, which aimed to accelerate the implementation of the European eHealth Record exchange Format (EEHRxF). Furthermore, he has been actively participating in IHE European Connectathons since 2021 and the NeHIF Projectathon 2021, where the FORTH applications were successfully tested for compliance with multiple IHE interoperability profiles and the NeHIF specifications. Finally, he was a member of award-winning teams that received 1st prize at the Hacking Health Athens Hackathon 2019, 1st prize in the Health Impact category at the 1st Health Datathon Athens of the 45th Panhellenic Medical Conference and 1st High Impact award at the ESMARTCITY Datathon.
