The HEALTHWARE project will focus on the integration of the two-way DVB-RCS technology with existing standard technologies to guarantee the delivery of sustainable end to end healthcare services. The current star configuration of DVB-RCS systems uses a central hub to forward the data transmitted by one remote terminal to another one. Its forward channel uses the DVB-S standard and provide compatibility with one way satellite DVB-S systems which promises the transmission of the information to a larger users scale. The promising two-way DVB-RCS mesh configuration whose hub functions are on board the satellite will also be validated. The launch of Amheris system is expected in 2004 and its innovative architecture will allow for smaller and more economical user terminals as well as for outstanding and interactive applications, notably healthcare applications.
