Dr Georgios Z. Papadakis is Principal Investigator (Associate Professor level) at the Hybrid Molecular Imaging Unit (HMIU) of the Institute of Computer Science (ICS) at the Foundation for Research and Technology Hellas (FORTH), while holding an adjunct lecturer position in the Department of Radiology at the School of Medicine in the University of Crete. Dr Papadakis worked as a post-doctoral research fellow at the Radiology & Imaging Sciences Department of the Clinical Center (CC), at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda (Maryland, USA) and has established ongoing collaborations with the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR), in USA. His main research activities broadly lie on the clinical and pre-clinical applications of positron emission tomography (PET) imaging, applications of modern hybrid imaging modalities (PET/CT & PET/MRI), and computational biomedical applications, with emphasis on neuroendocrine tumors, multi-system endocrinopathies, cardiovascular applications, rare bone diseases and neuroinflammation. He is author or co-author in more than 85 scientific papers published in peer-review journals indexed in Index Medicus and PubMed, which have received more than 1900 citations (source: Google Scholar, June 2022, h-index:22). Of note his publication (Oct. 2020) in the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM), which is recognized as the world’s leading medical journal. In addition, he is the author or co-author in more than 65 scientific presentations in top international Radiology and Nuclear Medicine meetings such as the RSNA (Radiological Society of North America), the SNMMI (Society of Nuclear Medicine & Molecular Imaging), the European Congress of Radiology (ECR) and the EANM (European Association of Nuclear Medicine). He is member in the Editorial Board of the following international Journals indexed in Pubmed or google scholar: Annals of Gastroenterology, Toxicology Reports, Oncology Letters, and the Hellenic Journal of Radiology.
