Short CV
Dr. George Potamias is a Principal Researcher within the Computational Medicine Laboratory (CBML), FORTH- ICS. He received his BSc degree in Mathematics (1983), and his PhD degree in the areas of Artificial Intelligence and Knowledge Based Systems (1992) from the Dept. Of mathematics, University of Patras, Greece. He has been working in the field of knowledge‐based systems, machine learning and data‐mining for over 15 years, with a number of publications to his credit. He was and currently is actively involved in a number of National and EU projects: GAMES‐I & II, STAR and InterCare Health Telematics projects; MLT, FAPSY, KESO, and IRAIA ESPRIT/IST machine‐learning/data‐mining projects. In the last years, his R&D interests and activities focus on the interdisciplinary area of Bioinformatics and Computational BioMedicine and has contributed to several R&D projects including: INFOBIOMED (IST NoE), ACGT, GEN2PHEN, ENCCA FP7 projects, and eMoDiA (electronic Molecular Diagnostics Assistant), Greek funded project. He represents FORTH-ICS in the ELIXIR-GR (A distributed infrastructure for life-science information) Greek national node. He has published more than 90 papers in international journals, periodicals and conferences.
