A Secure Healthcare Environment for Informatics Resilience (HEIR)
The “Secure Healthcare Environment for Informatics Resilience (HEIR)” EU-funded, H2020 project, officially held its kick-off meeting via teleconferencing on 17-18 September 2020. During this virtual meeting, HEIR partners presented their expected contributions and innovations and formed a solid work plan for the successful initiation of the project.
About HEIR Project
HEIR aims to design a thorough threat identification and cybersecurity knowledge base system, addressing both local (hospitals/medical centers) and global (including different stakeholders) level. It comprises real time threat hunting services, sensitive data trustworthiness sharing, innovative benchmarking mechanisms based on Risk Assessment of Medical Applications (RAMA) score, and will create an observatory for the Security of Electronic Medical Devices.
The project launched on September 1st, 2020, it has a runtime of 36 months and will be coordinated by Institut Mines-Télécom (IMT) from France. The project consortium comprises of 16 organizations; five (5) in academic/research field, seven (7) industrial/technology providers and four (4) in the health domain. HEIR consortium has complementary expertise in areas that are necessary for achieving its general objectives.
In this project, a research team from Distributed Computing Systems and Cybersecurity Laboratory, participates in HEIR on behalf of ICS-FORTH, providing innovative solutions regarding the threat classification, anomaly detection, vulnerability analysis, monitoring. Additionally, ICS-FORTH will lead the stakeholders’ engagement and ecosystem building between CERTs and healthcare providers.
The validation of the project’s outcomes and the developed solution, will include the integration of the produced system to four (4) real-world pilots from the health domain, which contain physically entangled systems, connected electronic medical devices and distributed medical facilities.
