Intel, the world leader in silicon innovation, is also a leader in software development and more specifically in open source software.
Intel contributes to advanced projects across markets and at every point of the solution stack and is one of the largest software publishers.
This talk will briefly present the various ways Intel is working with online communities and the importance of such collaborations for Intel’s strategic roadmap. The speaker will then elaborate on the basics of Open Source and illustrate ways of making use of and contributing to Open Source. He will also provide tips and hints for succeeding in the involvement with online communities, based on decades of experience.
Alexios Zavras is the Senior Open Source Compliance Engineer at Intel Corp. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science, with studies in National Technical University of Athens and University of Wisconsin – Madison.
His experience with FOSS dates back to 1983 before GNU was founded and the terms “free software” or “open source” were invented. He is an active member on many FOSS communities and has an equally extensive professional experience through his many years of work using FOSS, both as a freelancer and also as a staff member on various companies and organizations in Greece and abroad.
