The cooperative energy management of aggregated buildings remains an active field of research with the potential in energy savings to be substantial. This talk is concerned with the development of sophisticated control schemes that can achieve these energy gains by exploiting the energy generation, conversion, and storage equipment shared by the building community via an energy hub. The developed algorithms focus on optimization-based, data-driven and decentralized control methods, including the areas of model predictive control, robust optimization and stochastic programming.
Georgios Darivianakis (Automatic Control Laboratory, ETH, Zurich): Georgios Darivianakis received his Dipl.-Ing. degree in electrical and computer engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Greece in 2011 with the highest honor, and his M.Sc. degree in robotics, systems and control from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich, Switzerland in 2014. He is currently a Ph.D. candidate at the Automatic Control Laboratory at ETH Zurich. His research interests include model predictive control, robust optimization, and control of large-scale distributed systems, with applications to energy-efficient buildings and districts, power electronics and aerial robots.
