The HIGHER project follows the Open Compute Project (OCP) Server family of standards to build processor modules for computation and acceleration, alongside a system security/control module.

Description We seek a highly motivated student enrolled to a University MSc Program in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering to join our team. The selected candidate will participate in the research and development activities of ICS-FORTH in the context of the Horizon Europe project “OPTIMUS-6G: Optimized 6G-enabled IoT networks for unlicensed operations in the computing continuum”, funded under Horizon Europe, HORIZONS-SNS-2025-STREAM-B-01-02: Advanced IoT and Device Technologies. Description The candidate will participate in the R&D work of FORTH within the ICUdata4EU project. We are seeking a Software security Engineer, to contribute to the design, implementation, and testing of cybersecurity frameworks for the components of the European ICU Data Space. Required qualifications: o Bachelor in Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering or equivalent o Good knowledge of English Desired qualifications: o Experience with encryption, authentication, and authorization technologies to ensure cybersecurity and privacy of patient data. o Hands-on experience with identity & access management for sensitive data: OpenID Connect / OAuth2, an IdP such as Keycloak, token validation, and service-to-service authentication. o Experience designing and implementing authorization models — RBAC/ABAC/ReBAC (e.g. OpenFGA, Zanzibar-style) — for multi-role, multi-tenant clinical or research settings, applying least-privilege principles. o Containerised deployment and secure operation: Docker / Docker Compose, reverse-proxy configuration, TLS termination and certificate management. o Demonstrable experience building production-grade backend services in Python (FastAPI or equivalent) over relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL). o Testing and CI/CD practice (unit/integration tests, GitLab CI), plus security testing, monitoring and logging.

We seek one experienced member for our team (MSc holder in Computer Science / Computer Engineering) with background in European RTD Projects. The candidate will participate in the R&D activities of FORTH-ICS in the context of the H2020 project “E-RIHS PP - The European Research Infrastructure for Heritage Science Preparatory Phase” (Grant Agreement number: 739503), funded under Horizon 2020, “H2020-EU.1.4.1.1. - Developing new world-class research infrastructures”. E-RIHS PP activities are organized in eleven Work Packages. Each WP is subdivided into Tasks and Subtasks, according to the complexity of its planned actions. Our team coordinates the subtask 5.3.2 “Data interoperability”. The goal of this subtask is to create a typology and map of data and metadata standards, with generalization / specialization relations according to data sharing and inter- / trans-domain or disciplinary access needs. This includes data and metadata mapping and transformation methods and reference process models of maintaining mapped data up-to-date with sources and target requirements. For example, inspiration may come from medicine, which has needed to address similar diagnostic data issues.
