Dr. Harry Manifavas is a Senior Research Collaborator at the Distributed Computing Systems and Cybersecurity lab of the Institute of Computer Science, FORTH and a Visiting Professor in the Department of Computer Science, University of Crete

Dr. Harry Manifavas is a Senior Research Collaborator at ICS-FORTH, specializing in cybersecurity, cryptography, cybercrime, digital forensics, security operations and quantum-safe systems. With over twenty-five years of experience in the cybersecurity field, he has held positions in the public and private sectors as well as in academia. Dr. Manifavas holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Cambridge, an MSc in Communication Systems Engineering from the University of Kent, and a BSc in Computer Science from the University of Crete. His professional experience includes roles such as Research Assistant at the University of Cambridge, Security Engineer at Barclays Capital bank, and External Collaborator with ENISA. Since 2011, he has acted as a technical coordinator and senior security engineer in numerous EU-funded research projects focusing on cybersecurity challenges and has served as an evaluator of EU research proposals. At the Computer Science Department of the University of Crete, Dr. Manifavas has taught CS-458 (Introduction to Cryptography), CS-457.1 (Digital Forensics), CS-455 (Ethical Hacking) and CS-552 (AI & ML for Cybersecurity). Dr. Manifavas has also lectured on various cybersecurity topics (e.g., cryptography, computer security, network security, ethical hacking and penetration testing, windows forensics, risk management, IT for business, cyber policy and law, cyber analytics & machine learning) at several universities across three countries and supervised numerous undergraduate and postgraduate theses. He is the author or co-author of over 60 research papers and has obtained several professional certifications.
