OpenECG seeks to consolidate interoperability efforts in computerized electrocardiography at the European and international level, encouraging the use of standards. The OpenECG portal will provide free assistance, conformance validation, and interoperability testing. OpenECG plans to establish a forum for the discussion of problems and the sharing of experience in interoperability efforts involving SCP-ECG, an internationally recognised European standard. OpenECG will bring together the stakeholders in the adoption of computerized electrocardiography standards in Information Days, Workshops and a Programming Contest for open source tools, to further stimulate the adoption of computerized electrocardiography standards. The long-term goal of the OpenECG network is to gradually extend the focus on the cooperative use of standards to other cardiology examinations such as stress ECG, Holter, and ECG monitoring.
