[ICS-2412] Call for expression of interest for two (2) systems software engineers, with MSc degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
We seek two (2) systems software engineers, with a MSc degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering. The candidates will contribute to the R&D activities of FORTH, in the context of the EuroHPC-funded project SPACE, in either a full-time (preferred) or part-time capacity. The SPACE Centre-of-Excellence project aims to foster the reuse and sharing of algorithms and software components in the Astrophysics and Cosmology (A&C) application domain, where High Performance Computing (HPC)-based numerical simulations are outstanding instruments for scientific discovery. SPACE aims to extensively re-engineer the target codes to engage with new computational solutions suitable for exascale and post-exascale computing systems, and to adopt innovative programming paradigms, software solutions, and libraries. The SPACE consortium will pursue this goal through co-design activities that bring together scientists, code developers, HPC experts, HW manufacturers and SW developers, advancing lighthouse exascale A&C applications, codes, services and know-how promoting the use of upcoming exascale and post-exascale computing capabilities. In addition, SPACE will address the high-performance data analysis of the data torrent produced by exascale A&C simulation applications, also with machine-learning and visualization tools. The deployment of applications running on different platforms will be facilitated by federating capabilities focusing on code repositories and data sharing, and integrating European astrophysical communities around exascale computing by adopting software and data standards and interoperability protocols.

[ICS-2411] Call for expression of interest for one (1) position for student enrolled to a University MSc Program
We seek one (1) student enrolled to a University MSc Program in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering. The candidate will contribute to the R&D activities of FORTH in the context of the EC-funded project HIGHER, particularly in the implementation, validation, and evaluation of use cases. The HIGHER project follows the Open Compute Project (OCP) Server family of standards to build processor modules for computation and acceleration, alongside a system security/control module. The project aims to build modular rack-scale systems, running with fully-featured operating systems and runtimes, and incorporating reusable standards-based infrastructure that encompasses hardware, low-level firmware, and systems software, while ensuring trustworthy functionality for managing, securing, and controlling servers. The project's open-source hardware and software outcomes will enhance European Digital Autonomy and facilitate wide adoption. Furthermore, the project will assemble representative software stacks supporting a range of use cases, including accelerated data processing and analysis for converged Cloud and HPC platforms, Infrastructure-as-a- Service with standardized management and monitoring, Platform-as-a-Service facilitating large-scale data processing for ML inference and data analytics, and memory pool management at the server rack level, with access control safeguards aligned with maturing CXL standards.

[ICS-2364] Call for expression of interest for one (1) position for R&D Engineer with a degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
We seek one (1) recent graduate Engineer with a degree in Computer Science or Computer for our team. The candidates will participate in the R&D activities of FORTH in the context of the EC-funded project DAFAB. DAFAB addresses three primary challenges, in order to leverage the full potential of Copernicus' information. Firstly, the timely analysis of EO data that is critical for decision-makers to make informed decisions is addressed through novel hardware techniques dedicated to AI and federated computing techniques. Secondly, the massive amounts of Copernicus data make it challenging to identify the most relevant datasets for specific purposes, therefore DAFAB invests in public metadata catalogs to enable searching Copernicus images by features and relationships. Finally, the sustainability of analysis by-products is critical for efficient data management. To address this challenge, DAFAB invests in cloud-computing techniques and public metadata catalogs, providing a unified solution for searching both raw Copernicus and by-products by features and relationships. By addressing these challenges, DAFAB aims to unlock the full potential of Copernicus data and drive growth in the European EO data market.

[ICS-2362] Call for expression of interest for one (1) position for R&D Engineer with a degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
We seek one (1) recent graduate Engineer with a degree in Computer Science or Computer for our team. The candidate will participate in the R&D activities of FORTH in the context of the EC-funded project RISER. The RISER project will develop and validate open-source designs for standardized form-factor system platforms suitable for supporting cloud services, featuring RISC-V processor chips from contemporary European initiatives. Specifically, RISER will build two cloud-focused platforms: (1) An accelerator platform, in the form of a PCIe acceleration board designed for integration with HPC servers; (2) A microserver platform consisting of RISC-V chips coupled with high-speed storage and networking. The open-source system board designs of RISER will be accompanied by open-source low-level firmware and systems software, and a representative Linux-based software stack to support cloud services, facilitating uptake and enhancing the commercialization path of project results. Three use cases will be developed to evaluate and demonstrate the capabilities of RISER platforms: a) Acceleration of compute workloads; b) Networked object and key-value storage; c) Containerized execution as part of a provider-managed IaaS environment. The RISER consortium consists of seven partners, from academia, research centers and industry.

Στο πλαίσιο της υλοποίησης της Πράξης «Changes of Brain Networks under Learning in Normal Aging and Alzheimer’s Disease» (neuron-AD)» με Κωδικό 4058 , που χρηματοδοτείται στο πλαίσιο της «2η Προκήρυξης Ερευνητικών Έργων ΕΛ.ΙΔ.Ε.Κ. για την ενίσχυση Μελών ΔΕΠ και Ερευνητών/τριών» και συγχρηματοδοτείται από το Ευρωπαϊκό Ταμείο Περιφερειακής Ανάπτυξης (ΕΤΠΑ), το Ινστιτούτο Πληροφορικής του Ιδρύματος Τεχνολογίας και Έρευνας (ΙΠ-ΙΤΕ) προτίθεται να απασχολήσει έναν Data Engineer - Αναλυτή Δεδομένων και αντικείμενο την κατανόηση του τρόπου με τον οποίο τα δίκτυα από κύτταρα του φλοιού συντονίζονται και αλληλο- επιδρούν μεταξύ τους, προκειμένου να επεξεργάζονται τις πληροφορίες και να επιτρέπουν στα κυκλώματα του φλοιού να τροποποιούνται κατά τη διάρκεια της μάθησης είναι περιορισμένη. Ανωμαλίες στη λειτουργική συνδεσιμότητα των νευρωνικών δικτύων, ειδικά στον οπτικό φλοιό, χαρακτηρίζουν το Alzheimer's disease (AD). Το προτεινόμενο διεπιστημονικό έργο αφορά τον χαρακτηρισμό in vivo της αρχιτεκτονικής των λειτουργικών δικτύων του οπτικού φλοιού και των αλλαγών τους κατά τη διάρκεια της εξέλιξης της νόσου. Τα μοτίβα λειτουργικής συνδεσιμότητας μεταξύ των νευρώνων θα παρακολουθούνται, σε συνθήκες ηρεμίας και μάθησης. Επίσης, οι ιδιότητες της οπτικής απόκρισης θα καταγράφονται ως συνάρτηση της εξέλιξης της νόσου. Οι αναλυτές δεδομένων σε συνεργασία με την ομάδα του έργου θα ασχοληθούν με την ανάλυση των δεδομένων αυτών, εφαρμόζοντας αλγορίθμους μηχανικής μάθησης και στατιστικής ανάλυσης. Η ομάδα συνεργάζεται στενά με την Ιατρική Σχολή του Harvard.
