[ICS-2387] Call for expression of interest for one (1) post doctoral part-time position "Similarity search techniques in large data collections"

The aim is to address the challenges of processing large-scale time series collections that arise from real-world applications. Large-scale time series datasets are now encountered in nearly every scientific and social domain. The person will design and implement a collection of algorithms, data structures, and mechanisms to tackle the scalability problem in the analysis of massive time series data, leveraging modern and emerging hardware technologies. The algorithms, data structures, and mechanisms developed will form a powerful library, thus ensuring their easy and efficient use by a wide range of applications whose performance heavily relies on the effective processing of large-scale time series data.

We are looking for an experienced developer to be part of the team designing and implementing a system integrating the final toolkits of the PANACEA project, namely a dynamic risk assessment & mitigation tool, a secure information sharing tool for the protection of data, a security-by-design & certification tool, and a tool for identification & authentication. The candidate will be mainly involved in the adaptation and integration of an iris based biometric solution as part of a cybersecurity framework implemented in the project.

The EuroHPC Research & Innovation project DEEP-SEA starts in April 2021 and will last for 3 years. It aims at improving software support for highly heterogeneous systems, which combine different processing units and diverse memory technologies. DEEP-SEA adopts the modular supercomputing architecture (MSA), and considers heterogeneity and performance at both the node level and at the system cluster level. Composability, programmability, portability, malleability, and reliability are targeted with a comprehensive system software and programming environment, which combines traditional models (MPI, OpenMP, OmpSs, GASPI) with higher-level, hardware-agnostic approaches (NabLab, DaCe).
