[ICS-2387] Call for expression of interest for one (1) post doctoral part-time position "Similarity search techniques in large data collections"

The aim is to address the challenges of processing large-scale time series collections that arise from real-world applications. Large-scale time series datasets are now encountered in nearly every scientific and social domain. The person will design and implement a collection of algorithms, data structures, and mechanisms to tackle the scalability problem in the analysis of massive time series data, leveraging modern and emerging hardware technologies. The algorithms, data structures, and mechanisms developed will form a powerful library, thus ensuring their easy and efficient use by a wide range of applications whose performance heavily relies on the effective processing of large-scale time series data.

The candidate will participate in the R&D activities of FORTH in the context of the project I- BIDaaS Industrial-Driven Big Data as a Self-Service Solution. In the context of I-BIDaaS project, FORTH, along with the project’s partners, will study and develop security mechanisms for ICT enabled systems. The I-BIDAAS framework will accelerate the analysis of Big Data with the help of GPUs and other accelerators. As such, prior experience in systems programming and high performance analytics with the help of GPUs are very important aspects for the position offered.

[ICS-1330] Two (2) full-time Early Stage Researcher positions on Security and Privacy

The positions are for three (3) years, starting in early-mid 2019. The positions are funded by the European Commission under the Marie Curie Initial Training Network (ITN) program RAIS, which focuses on the design of decentralized, scalable and secure collective awareness platforms for real-time data analytics and machine learning, which preserve end-user privacy and information ownership. The first position is for Mitigation of Cyberattacks in Wearable Devices and the second position is for Decentralized Privacy-preserving Data Sharing. The RAIS consortium aspires to establish a fertile multidisciplinary research and innovation community with strong entrepreneurial culture that will advance wearable sport-sensing and quantified-self devices and accompanying middleware. The main objective of the RAIS Initial Training Network is to provide world class training for a next generation of researchers, data scientists, and Web engineers, emphasizing on a strong combination of advanced understanding in both theoretical and experimental approaches, methodologies and tools that are required to develop Decentralized Platforms for Real-Time Data Analytics.
