[ICS-2362] Call for expression of interest for one (1) position for R&D Engineer with a degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
We seek one (1) recent graduate Engineer with a degree in Computer Science or Computer for our team. The candidate will participate in the R&D activities of FORTH in the context of the EC-funded project RISER. The RISER project will develop and validate open-source designs for standardized form-factor system platforms suitable for supporting cloud services, featuring RISC-V processor chips from contemporary European initiatives. Specifically, RISER will build two cloud-focused platforms: (1) An accelerator platform, in the form of a PCIe acceleration board designed for integration with HPC servers; (2) A microserver platform consisting of RISC-V chips coupled with high-speed storage and networking. The open-source system board designs of RISER will be accompanied by open-source low-level firmware and systems software, and a representative Linux-based software stack to support cloud services, facilitating uptake and enhancing the commercialization path of project results. Three use cases will be developed to evaluate and demonstrate the capabilities of RISER platforms: a) Acceleration of compute workloads; b) Networked object and key-value storage; c) Containerized execution as part of a provider-managed IaaS environment. The RISER consortium consists of seven partners, from academia, research centers and industry.

[ICS-1921] Call for expression of interest for one (1) position of a student enrolled to a University PhD Program, in Computer Science or Computer Engineering at the Institute of Computer Science, Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH).
We seek one (1) student enrolled to a University PhD Program for our team, with background in European Research Projects. The candidate will participate in the R&D activities of FORTH in the context of the project The European PILOT: The European PILOT combines cutting edge research utilizing SW/HW co-design to demonstrate HPC and HPDA accelerators running key applications and libraries in a full software stack including middleware, runtimes, compilers, and tools for the emerging RISC-V ecosystem. The European PILOT is able to produce a full stack (SW and HW) research prototype by leveraging and extending the work done in multiple European projects like: EPI, MEEP, POP2 CoE, EuroEXA, and ExaNeSt. This pre-production system can only be realized with a combination of existing IP, HW emulation using FPGAs, and real ASIC prototypes that demonstrate the full stack feasibility of the hardware and software.

We seek one (1) student enrolled to a University MSc Program for our team. The candidate will participate in the R&D activities of FORTH in the context of the project EUPEX: The EUPEX consortium aims to design, build, and validate the first EU platform for HPC, covering end-to-end the spectrum of required technologies with European assets: from the architecture, processor, system software, development tools to the applications. The EUPEX prototype will be designed to be open, scalable and flexible, including the modular OpenSequana-compliant platform and the corresponding HPC software ecosystem for the Modular Supercomputing Architecture. Scientifically, EUPEX is a vehicle to prepare HPC, AI, and Big Data processing communities for upcoming European Exascale systems and technologies. The hardware platform is sized to be large enough for relevant application preparation and scalability forecast, and a proof of concept for a modular architecture relying on European technologies in general and on European Processor Technology (EPI), in particular. In this context, a strong emphasis is put on the system software stack and the applications.
