This is an intelligent system for measuring traffic load, integrated into the digital platform Heraklion smartcity. Its purpose is to optimize the use of road networks and improve service, safety, and efficiency through the introduction of information systems, applications, and internet-based services.

What the system enables

• Display of dynamic results, providing real-time traffic information.
• Traffic load measurements for any time period selected by the user.
• Comparative traffic load results (time-based comparisons).
• Real-time data visualization of traffic load within the (Heraklion) Municipality’s smart city platform for further use and exploitation.

• Data collection and processing will support competent authorities in decision-making and in adopting appropriate actions/measures aimed at reducing air pollution.
• The information system also allows any interested party to collect the data - with mandatory source attribution - as the city’s open data, for use in studies, publications, comparisons, or the development of traffic-related applications, contributing to evidence-based decision-making and/or improving the city’s business environment.
