Junior
Research Positions in Scalable Storage Systems |
| Description:
Two junior researcher positions (Early Stage Researchers -- ESRs) in the area of scalable storage systems are available in the CARV Laboratory of the Institute of Computer Science (ICS), Foundation for Research and Technology - Hellas (FORTH), Heraklion, Greece (http://www.ics.forth.gr). The area of storage systems is currently under significant change due to changes in underlying technologies that open exciting possibilities. ESRs are typically pre-PhD researchers. The ideal candidates would hold a Bachelors or Master's in computer science, computer engineering or related field, would have developed familiarity in computer systems and computer architecture, and good systems building skills in low-level systems software (e.g. kernel modules, network protocols, file-systems, block-level storage systems, controller firmware). The positions are funded by the European Commission under the Marie Curie Initial Training Network Program. The duration of the appointment is 1 year with possibility of extending to 3 years. Applications for smaller periods will also be considered. Applicants must submit the following documents:

position in Exascale Computing Systems Research Computer Architecture and VLSI Systems Laboratory (CARV) |
| Description:
The CARV Laboratory of the Institute of Computer Science at the Foundation for Research and Technology - Hellas, is seeking applicants for postdoctoral positions to work on programming models, runtime support, and adaptation of scientific applications for Exascale computing systems. Having surpassed the Petaflop barrier, supercomputers are reaching for the Exaflop target, using millions of processor cores. This challenge opens up numerous exciting opportunities in research at all layers of the software stack. The ideal candidate should have strong background in parallel programming and system software for parallel computing at all scales (chip-level, node-level, cluster-level), a strong publications record in central conferences in these areas, and strong experience in building systems software prototypes and parallel applications at scale. Outstanding postdoctoral candidates may be considered for tenure-track research positions at FORTH-ICS. |
