All active members of the research community of the Foundation for Research and Technology Hellas (FORTH) and all employees of ENISA have the right to use material and services of the Library of the Institute of Computer Science (ICS-FORTH Library). Rights and duties of the users vary among user category and these are defined in the Regulation of the Library. Books can be borrowed for twenty days with an option of renewal of a further twenty days. For a renewal, advance notice is requested. Renewals may be made by email or by phone. Notifications of overdue books, reservations awaiting collection, etc., are sent by electronic mail to users. Journals and Reference Books cannot be borrowed.

Interlibrary Loan

The ICS-FORTH Library, through participating in the National Network of Science and Technology Libraries (NNSTL), provides interlibrary loan services for acquiring items that are not at its collection. The NNSTL, consisting of 233 member-Libraries in Greece and Cyprus, has been developed and is operated by the National Documentation Center.

The ICS-FORTH Library has established co-operation also with the Library of the other Institutes at FORTH, with the University of Crete Library and with other libraries and Document Supply Centres in Greece and abroad.

Patrons may submit requests through Interlibrary Loan service by filling a form. A separate form is required for each item. Users must be sure that the item they request is not available at the ICS-FORTH Library. The Library staff will attempt to obtain the material from another library or document vendor.

Access to Electronic Resources

The Library's Website provides information about collections, services and staff as well as links to the Library's online catalogue, bibliographic databases, full-text electronic journals and other information sources relevant to research conducted at ICS-FORTH. The Library Catalogue (ALEPH WEBOPAC) and all other electronic resources can be accessed from all floors of the Library and from all offices of the main building of FORTH.
