ADAS&ME (Grant Agreement no. 688900)

Adaptive ADAS to support incapacitated drivers & Mitigate Effectively risks through tailor made HMI under automation
ADAS&ME aims to develop Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) that incorporate driver/rider state, situational/ environmental context, and adaptive interaction to automatically transfer control between vehicle and driver and thus ensure safer and more efficient road usage. To achieve this in ADAS&ME a holistic approach will be taken which considers automated driving along with information on driver state. The work is based around 8 provisionally identified Use Cases aiming to cover a large proportion of driving on European roads. Experimental research will be carried out on driver state monitoring as well as on HMI and automation transitions and the ADAS developed for the Use Cases will be tested and verified with real drivers in simulator and on road. The experiments will be carried out in accordance with European, regional and institutional ethical principles. Similarly the ADAS will be developed based on ethical principles.

RAMCIP (Robotic Assistant for MCI Patients at home)
RAMCIP aims to research and develop real robotic solutions for assistive robotics for the elderly and those suffering from Mild Cognitive Impairments and dementia. This is a key step to developing a wide range of assistive technologies. The project adopts existing technologies from the robotics community and fuses them with user-centred design activities and practical validation to create a step-change in robotics for assisted living.

PRODROMOS – Integrated platform for security, information and accessibility in intelligent multimodal trasport
The project "PRODROMOS" deals with the creation and implementation of an integrated methodology to complement a "single window" platform, for the security, information and operation of intelligent marine transport. The platform in development aims the improvement of the efficiency and security of supply chains and of trafficking through seaports. The project builds on previous actions, especially regarding the creation of a "single window" portal by the Cyprus Ports Authority, and systems studies made by the Department of Public Works of the Ministry of Transport (Cyprus).

COGNITUS (Converging broadcast and user generated content for interactive ultra-high definition services)
The COGNITUS collaborative research project is a Horizon 2020 innovation action and it received funding from the European Union. It includes eight partners from across Europe, led by BBC R&D. This action addresses the future of UHD content production and distribution. The COGNITUS consortium will bring together researchers and experts in video broadcasting, processing and analytics, with the objective of exploring innovative technology and push the boundaries of conventional broadcasting architectures. COGNITUS envisages new scenarios in which conventional professionally-produced high quality content in the Ultra High Definition (UHD) format is enhanced and aggregated with user generated content (UGC).
VERITAS aims to develop, validate and assess tools for built-in accessibility support at all stages of ICT and non-ICT product development, including specification, design, development and testing. The goal is to introduce simulation-based and virtual reality testing at all stages of assistive technologies product design and development into the automotive, smart living spaces, (buildings & construction, domotics), workplace and infotainment applications areas.

REMOTE aims at delivering an open architecture platform to enable professional carers in observing at anytime and from anywhere the elderly and in identifying at run-time risks in activity and medical signals emitted from the individual’s REMOTE wearable and mobile equipment. The Project focuses on agents for interfacing appropriately the REMOTE platform to all primary users (carers and the elderly), following a holistic, yet person-centric, approach: (i)Innovative elderly-friendly concepts and designs for i-TV, mobile phone and PDA platforms.(ii)Empowering interfaces for enabling groups of professional experts in collaborative, yet personalised, health-care, able to adapt to the various patterns of work and other contextual parameters of each individual professional carer.
The main goal of ACCESSIBLE is to improve the accessibility of software development products, by introducing a harmonised accessibility methodology into the software design and development processes, using significantly better measurement strategies and methodologies. ACCESSIBLE will research and develop a process for collating and merging different methodological tools, checking the coherence with the W3C/WAI ARIA and other standards in order to produce an Open Source Assessment Simulation Environment.

OASIS is an Integrated Project with the scope to revolutionise the interoperability, quality, breadth and usability of services for all daily activities of older people. ASK-IT integrated project aims to establish Ambient Intelligence (AmI) in semantic web enabled services, to support and promote the mobility of Mobility Impaired people, enabling the provision of personalised, self-configurable, intuitive and context-related applications and services and facilitating knowledge and content organisation and processing.
The major objective of INTUITION is to bring together leading experts and key actors across all major areas of VE understanding, development, testing and application in Europe, including industrial representatives, SMEs and key research institutes, universities and major international organizations or associations in order to overcome fragmentation and promote VE establishment within product and process design. Κύριος στόχος του έργου SEN-IST-NET είναι να στηρίξει την ανάπτυξη της παιδαγωγικής και τεχνολογικής καινοτομίας στην Ευρώπη, προς όφελος των εμπλεκομένων στο χώρο των Τεχνολογιών της Κοινωνίας της Πληροφορίας (IST) και όλων των εκπαιδευομένων, συμπεριλαμβανομένων των ατόμων με Ειδικές Εκπαιδευτικές Ανάγκες (SEN). Το SEN-IST-NET αφορά το πρόβλημα του αποκλεισμού ορισμένων ομάδων εκπαιδευομένων από την πλήρη συμμετοχή τους σε νέους τρόπους μάθησης, εξαιτίας κοινωνικού μειονεκτήματος ή αναπηρίας, ή και των δύο. Το SEN-IST-NET παρέχει μία κοινή πλατφόρμα για συζήτηση και ανταλλαγή απόψεων, όχι μόνο για την ανάπτυξη αυτών καθαυτών των τεχνολογιών αλλά και για βασικά ερωτήματα που αφορούν την παιδαγωγική και την τεχνολογικά-υποστηριζόμενη μάθηση.

Κύριος στόχος του έργου είναι να αντιμετωπίζει την έλλειψη κατάλληλων οδηγιών και προτύπων για την υλοποίηση άριστων πρακτικών και τη χρήση τεχνολογιών Εικονικής Πραγματικότητας. Το έργο εστιάζει στη λήψη πρωτοβουλιών και στην υποστήριξη της ενσωμάτωσης Εικονικών Περιβαλλόντων (Ves) στην ανάπτυξη προϊόντων, στις διαδικασίες αξιολόγησης και εκπαίδευσης, καθώς και στην ευρύτερη αποδοχή Ves στην ευρωπαϊκή βιομηχανία. Σε αυτό το πλαίσιο, το έργο VIEW of the Future έχει ως στόχο την ανάπτυξη βασικών τεχνολογιών, μεθοδολογιών και εργαλείων που θα δίνουν τη δυνατότητα στη βιομηχανία να χρησιμοποιήσει κατάλληλα Ves.

A Runtime for Adaptive and Extensible Wireless Wearables
Το έργο 2WEAR αφορά την ανάπτυξη συστημάτων διαφορετικών μικρών και απομακρυσμένων μεταξύ τους συσκευών που επικοινωνούν ασύρματα. Τέτοιες φορετές συσκευές (όπως ακουστικά, γυαλιά, πλήκτρα, στυλό, πορτοφόλια) παρέχουν στους χρήστες αυξημένες και ουσιαστικές δυνατότητες ενσωμάτωσης. Η κοινοπραξία του έργου 2WEAR διεξάγει έρευνα και αναπτύσσει αυτά τα συστήματα συνδυάζοντας τεχνογνωσία από τον ερευνητικό / ακαδημαϊκό χώρο (Forth-ICS, ETH) και τη βιομηχανία (Nokia, MASC).

Το ΙS4ALL είναι ένα Θεματικό Δίκτυο που χρηματοδοτείται από το Πρόγραμμα IST (IST-1999-14101), και έχει ως επιδίωξη να καθιερώσει ένα ευρύ, διεπιστημονικό και στενά συνεργαζόμενο «δίκτυο εμπειρογνωμόνων» (Working Group) με στόχο να συνθέσει, αξιολογήσει και καταστήσει διαθέσιμο ένα κατανοητό κώδικα πρακτικής με έμφαση στον τρόπο που η Καθολική Σχεδίαση εφαρμόζεται στον τομέα της Τηλεματικής στην Υγεία. Το έργο αυτό διαρκεί τρία χρόνια και εμπλέκονται σε αυτό εξέχοντες φορείς από τους τομείς της Τηλεματικής στην Υγεία, της Επικοινωνίας Ανθρώπου – Μηχανής και της Καθολικής Πρόσβασης.

HOBBIT: The Mutual Care Robot
The HOBBIT project sets out to study a future robot that will make older persons feel safe at home. It will pick up objects from the floor, can learn objects and bring objects, and it is equipped with easy-to-use entertainment functions. HOBBIT will offer tools to stay socially connected, keep active with playing games and exercise, and enjoy your time checking out now films, music and books. HOBBIT will detect emergency situations and trigger an appropriate alarm. The focus of HOBBIT is on the development of the mutual care concept: building a relationship between the human and the robot in which both take care for each other. Like when a person learns what an animal understands and can do; similar to building a bond with a pet. The main task of the robot is fall prevention and detection. To achieve this, the robot will clean the floor from all objects and thus reduce the risk of falling. It will detect emergency situations such that help can be called in time. The purpose of the Mutual Care approach is to increase the acceptance of the home robot.
