Prof. Kostas Magoutis is Assistant Professor at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Ioannina, Greece, and Affiliated Researcher at the Computer Architecture and VLSI Systems (CARV) Laboratory of the Institute of Computer Science, Foundation for Research and Technology - Hellas. Before joining FORTH, he held the position of Research Staff Member with the Department of Services Technologies at the IBM T. J. Watson Research Center, in Hawthorne, NY since 2003, and taught at Columbia University. He holds a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from Harvard University (2003) and is a recipient of J. William Fulbright (1993), Alexander S. Onassis (1994), and EU Marie Curie (2009) Fellowships.

Kostas Magoutis is Assistant Professor with the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, University of Ioannina, Greece and Affiliated Researcher with the Institute of Computer Science, FORTH, Heraklion, Greece. His research interests revolve around distributed systems, improving the availability, manageability and performance of distributed applications, and Cloud computing. From 2003-2009, he held the position of Research Staff Member at the IBM T. J. Watson Research Center, Hawthorne, NY, USA and taught at Columbia University, NY, USA. His research work has received two best paper awards in prestigious USENIX conferences (Annual Technical Conference 2002, BSD Conference 2002) and has led to 12 issued US patents. He was the Program Committee co-Chair of IFIP DAIS 2014. He holds a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from Harvard University and is a recipient of J. William Fulbright, Alexander S. Onassis, and EU Marie Curie Fellowships.
