The metropolitan mesh network covers an area of approximately 60 Km2 and currently contains 14 nodes, Figure 2, among which six are core mesh nodes, whose design was discussed in the previous section. The distance and antennas used for the links between core mesh nodes are shown in Table 1. Each wireless interface is assigned a static IP address, and the OLSR protocol (OLSR daemon version 0.4.10) is used for routing traffic in the network. The mesh test-bed is connected to a fixed network through two nodes (FORTH and UoC).
