Some useful tips:

A. If you want to use a taxi.
There are two basic tariffs: Tariff 1 and Tariff 2. Depending on the time of day and the journey the driver must select the correct rate.Tariff 1 is the "day rate" used from 5.00 to 24.00 and Tariff 2 is the night rate valid from 24.00 to 5.00. Also, tariff number 1 is used within the limits of the town or city where the taxi is registered and tariff number 2 is used outside that zone.

If you get a taxi at the airport or the port and you intend to travel a long distance, then ask the driver how much he expects the fare to cost. (The Airport surcharge is 2.50 Euros) By doing so you will avoid unpleasant surprises. Also, remember that in the arrival halls of the airports or at the taxi stands outside the airport there are boards with the taxi fares to the most popular destinations.

A fare from the airport to city center should be around 11-12 euros. The same fare should be payed from city center to FORTH. If you want to come to Forth, ask the driver to bring you to ITE (ITE is the greek word for FORTH) and if you show it in writing make sure it is spelled correctly because there is an educational institution called TEI (same letters different order) and very often they confuse it. TEI is in a different location 3 kilometers away from ITE.
