Prof. Dimitris Plexousakis is a professor in the Department of Computer Science, University of Crete and a researcher in the Information Systems Laboratory of the Institute of Computer Science, FORTH.

His research interests include Knowledge Representation and Reasoning, Data and Knowledge Base Design, Temporal and Spatial Databases, Web-based Information Systems, Business Process and Workflow Management Systems.

He is the science person in charge of the following projects:

- plug-IT (CP)

- CYCLADES (IST)

- ECOM (GSRT)

- PLANET (Network of Excellence on AI Planning)

He has actively participated in:

- C-Web (IST)

- MESMUSES (IST)

- OntoWeb (Network of Excellence on Ontology-based Information Exchange)
