Prof. Vassilis Christophides is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science, University of Crete and an Associate Researcher in the Information Systems Laboratory of the Institute of Computer Science, FORTH.

His research interests include Wide-area Integration Systems, Electronic Documents Management Systems, Object Database Management Systems, Models and Query Languages for semi-structured data, Optimization and Indexing techniques.

He is the science person in charge of the following projects:

- CASPAR (IST)

- KP-Lab (IST)

- MESMUSES (IST)

- C-Web (IST)

He has actively participated in:

- OntoWeb (Network of Excellence on Ontology-based Information Exchange)
