Multimedia Applications in the preservation of Epirus Cultural Heritage
The "Multimedia Applications in the preservation of Epirus Cultural Heritage" project major objective was the development of a multimedia database and system aiming at the preservation and dissemination of the cultural heritage and the natural resources of the region of Epirus. The database was finally transformed to two CD-ROMs titles targeting different audiences (one for tourists, visitors and tourist agencies & one for scientists, students, unis and libraries). The project aimed also at forming the methodology platform for developing similar applications and designing multimedia products for the market of Greece. ICS-FORTH's contributions to the project were -among others- the development of the database and RDBM system and the development of a user interface capable of handling simultaneous access to various sources.
