Panos Constantopoulos is a Professor of Informatics at the Athens University of Economics and Business.

During the period 1986-2003, he held a faculty appointment in the department of Computer Science at the University of Crete and was the head of the Information Systems Laboratory (ISL) and the Centre for Cultural Informatics at the Institute of Computer Science, Foundation for Research and Technology - Hellas (ICS-FORTH).

He has been a visiting professor at the Universite de Paris Sud (Orsay) and at the University of Toronto, as well as a visiting researcher at the IBM T.J. Watson Research Center and at the Operations Research Center, MIT.

He has a Doctor of Science in Operations Research from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1983), a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Carnegie-Mellon University (1979), and a Diploma in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (1978).

His main research interests include information systems, conceptual modelling, semantic information access, cultural informatics, decision support systems and software engineering.
