Project Objective: In the hospital of the future, diagnostic imaging procedures based on picture archiving and communication systems (PACS), are expected to replace the film-based procedures of today. This will require a tight integration of PACS with the other hospital structures. The current state of technology only allows the realization of partial, small-scale solutions in the clinical environment. The aim of this project is therefore the identification and - whenever possible - elimination of the bottlenecks that hamper the implementation of a full scale hospital integrated PACS.
