Dr. Kostas Magoutis is a Researcher at the Computer Architecture and VLSI Systems (CARV) Laboratory of the Institute of Computer Science, Foundation for Research and Technology - Hellas, and affiliated faculty with the Computer Science Department, University of Crete. His research interests and activities focus on the manageability and performance of scalable computer systems, Cloud infrastructure management services, and on IT services engineering. Prior to joining ICS-FORTH (2009), Dr. Magoutis held the position of Research Staff Member with the Department of Services Technologies at the IBM T. J. Watson Research Center, in Hawthorne, NY since 2003, and taught at Columbia University. His research (appearing in over thirty referred publications) has received two best-paper awards in prestigious USENIX conferences (Annual Technical Conference 2002, BSD Conference 2002) and several IBM Invention Awards (he is holder of five issued US patents). Dr. Magoutis is currently faculty of the Erasmus Mundus International Master in Services Engineering. He holds a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from Harvard University and is a recipient of J. William Fulbright, Alexander S. Onassis, and EU Marie Curie Fellowships.
